COUGAR AGREEMENTS 

Welcome to the California Cougars, a NorCal Premier and U.S. Club Soccer club. To ensure that we train and compete at the highest level possible, every member of the club understands and agrees to the following expectations.

 

Becoming a Member of the California Cougars Soccer Club Gives You:

  • Participation in Tournaments (individual teams will determine which tournaments they will apply to)

  • Mandatory Training 2 days per week for 12 months.

  • Participation in Fall, Winter (u14 and below) and Spring Leagues with NorCal Premier Soccer and games on most weekends during the league seasons.

  • Participation in State Cup competition.

  • All training sessions held at Grupe Park or Lincoln High School.

  • All home games held at River Islands Soccer Complex, Morada Soccer Complex or similar park or Lincoln High School.

  • High quality referees at all home games.

  • Membership in U.S. Club Soccer

 

Cost Expectations From All Members:

  • Annual registration fee-registers your player with U.S. Club Soccer

  • Training fee-paid with team fee(late fee of $15 applies if paid after the 5th of the month; no training until paid if not paid by the end of the month.)

  • Team fee-payment options available; varies by team, but includes league registration fees, State Cup registration fees, tournament registration fees, field use fees, referee fees, coach’s travel for away games, banking fees, and website.

  • Late fee of $15 applies if paid after the 5th of the month; no training/games until paid, if not paid by the end of the month.

  • Purchase and maintenance of a uniform kit from Soccer.com.

  • Payments- are expected to be made on time according to your chosen payment option as long as your child is a member of the club.

  • If a Club Member falls behind in payment of either the Training fee or the Team fee, the player will be suspended from play and training until the account is brought current. Further, owing fees could subject the player to not having their pass released by the club.

 

Parent Expectations:

  • Let the Coaches Coach: Please leave the coaching to the coaches. If the player has too many people coaching them it can cause them to be distracted or confused.

  • Support the Program: Get involved and volunteer. There are many ways to get involved.

  • Be Respectful of Others:  Treat your child, their teammates, parents, family members, opponents, referees, coaches and others with respect; avoid foul and/or abusive language.

    • Inappropriate behavior by parents or supporters may cause a game to be forfeited or a coach to be suspended. 

  • Support your child and the team: Have your child to the field on time for training session and one hour before game time, be encouraging on the sideline of your child and the team. Be positive.

  • Payments: Make all training and team fees on time.

  • Training: Will always take place, as scheduled, unless cancelled by the coach.

 

Player Expectations:

  • Be Prepared: Have all necessary gear on game day and at training; all uniform pieces (on game day), cleats, shinguards, goalkeeper jersey and gloves if you are a keeper, water, etc.

  • Be prepared: Be mentally ready for the game, listen to the coach’s instruction before, during and after the game, show up ready to play/train.

  • Be On Time:  Be at training, ready to start on time and arrive to all games one hour before game time. Captains start warm-ups on time.

  • Injury: If you are injured, keep your coach informed of your status. Call/text your coach if you are too sick, injured to attend a game.

  • Understand: Missing training sessions can impact playing time.

  • DO YOUR BEST: Always make your best effort in training and in games. You never know who may be watching you. Do not have any regrets or excuses about your game or training effort.

  • Be a good sport: Always show good sportsmanship and be respectful of opponents,  referees, and coaches.

  • Commit: yourself to the California Cougars for the entire playing season.

 

Coach’s Expectations:

  • Be prepared: Be prepared to train and coach at the highest levels.

  • Be professional: Conduct yourself in a professional, business-like fashion.

  • Set high standards: for their own and their player’s conduct, behavior at training and games, and attendance.

  • Communicate: with players and parents openly, honestly, and professionally.

  • Be committed: to helping each player develop soccer skills and understanding.

 

Travel Commitment:

  • League and State Cup games are within 1-2 hour drive of Stockton (most are closer than that.)

  • Tournament travel expenses are the responsibility of the club member. Some tournaments will be local within, a few hours drive, while others may be in Southern California or out-of-state where overnight stays and air travel are likely.

  • All players are expected to participate in every event, unless injured.

 

Withdrawal Policy:

  • While it is the hope of California Cougars Soccer Club for all players to maintain membership with the club, the club understands that circumstances develop that might cause a player to have to withdraw from the club. It is important to understand that fees are set on an annual basis and divided equally among the membership, so we will be unable to refund any processed payments or registration fees.

  • Withdrawal notices must be in writing (email or text) to the player’s coach. All fees are expected to be paid through the end of the month that the withdrawal notice is given.

  • When all fees are current to the month of withdrawal notice, the registrar of the club will release the player from the California Cougars Soccer Club.

 

High School Players:

  • California Cougars understands that some players will pursue playing high school ball.

  • They are expected to continue training at least once a week with the club. They will be expected to pay training fees whether they choose to train or not, as they are holding a spot on the team.

  • The team fees are calculated for the entire year, with most of the costs being incurred for events from March to November, which  high school players will be available to participate in. They are expected to pay their fees for the year.
